CCA Showcase Day 2019
AHSNPCC Precision Drill Squad 1 came up with an entertaining performance to the incoming Secondary 1s during the recent CCA Showcase on 18th January 2019. We got to present our well-practised choreography to show the Secondary 1s a slight preview of PDS in our CCA.
Here are two reflections from 2 PDS Squad 1 members, from CPL(NPCC) Lee Jing Min and CPL(NPCC) Tan Ying Yin.

Learning the choreography was full of ups and downs as there were times where I couldn't get certain steps right even after quite some time. However, the practices were rather effective as we were given time to self-practice which allowed me to fix my mistakes slowly at my own learning pace. I think it was effective as we kept practicing the whole choreography over and over again, which really helps in building my muscle memory.
One month before the performance, I was really worried as I couldn't fully memorise the choreography and also the new parts added and it made me fear what would happen on that day itself. However, the fear was transformed to motivation and it made me push myself to practice more to make sure I am able to do it well with the rest of the PDS squad members. The process was a rather stressful one and I'm thankful that the seniors and my squadmates, were there to encourage me to continue working hard.
On that day itself, all of us were extremely nervous and I was really relieved I did not make any mistakes throughout the performance. Although some of us made mistakes, I'm still really glad that we made it through after putting in effort in the continuous practices. It was indeed a great experience, especially on that day itself where we still had to put up a certain standard while being out of our comfort zone.

Learning the choreography for not as difficult for me as I did not struggle as much as Jing min did. Although there were few mistakes here and there I was able learn the choreography with not much difficulty. I enjoyed training very much as I felt that I bonded more with my seniors and batch mates through the pds trainings and I felt that I have learned a lot through this experience. I also felt a sense of accomplishment as I witness the improvements we made throughout this entire experience, from learning the steps itself to doing the choreography with the music and to syncing our movements of the choreography.
I have to admit that nearing the actual date of the performance, I felt a little stressed, however, I was sure that with the amount of practice we had we would complete the entire performance smoothly. However, on the day itself due to nervousness, I made.quite a few mistakes in the choreography and I still feel that I could have done better. I am extremely thankful that I have seniors and batch mate who will encourage me, motivating me to work harder.

In conclusion, this very first official PDS performance in AHSNPCC. It has sparked the start and continuation of PDS in AHSNPCC, with future NPCC PDS Cadets bringing up more interesting performances!
