Farewell Dinner 2007
19th of January marked an important occasion for AHSNPCC cadets; especially cadets of the Pioneer Batch, which originated in January 2005. It was a day which many would fondly remember, our 1st farewell dinner. It was to commemorate the leaving of O.C.Miss Juvena Teo, and our W.C.I Chen Xiumin, being the first farewell dinner held. Due to the fact the O.C. Miss Teo was the originator of NPCC in Anglican High- she was the one who single-handedly managed the unit until our current O.C. Miss Aline Poh came along.
Nevertheless, it was an event for the Secondary 2 and 3 cadets to bond with one another, leaving memories of one another. The dinner was more of a "pot-luck" buffet style, where the food was individually prepared by some of the Secondary 3 cadets. It was also an eye-opener to different culinary skills, especially Mervyn Sir's "healthy bee hoon", which consisted of many servings of vegetables. Considering that there was quite a spread, including an after-dinner dessert which was marshmallows dipped in chocolate fondue. :D
Many of the Secondary 3 cadets arrived at the function room of Mervyn Sir's condominium in the afternoon, setting up the place proper for the gathering. When all was ready, we waited patiently for the stars of the day to arrive. Miss Teo arrived with Miss Poh and Miss Pua(the new teacher coordinator), while Xiumin Ma'am arrived with Jia Ying Ma'am at around 6:30pm. We mingled around till 7:00pm and dinner started with an appetizer, fries brought by Jennifer ma'am, followed by roasted chicken wings by Pei Yi Ma'am.
Dinner was enjoyable, and the voted most delicious dish was, of course, Mervyn Sir's "veggie beehoon"; as it ensured us of slim and lean bodies for NP trainings.(: To thank O.C. Miss Teo for actively supporting AHSNPCC, Miss Poh presented her a gift of appreciation on behalf of the whole unit. Miss Teo then gave a short speech which reminded us of the times AHSNPCC had gone through, both good and bad; and taught us to stay united as a unit.
Moreover, it was W.C.I. Xiumin's birthday and we also celebrated it for her and some Secondary 3 cadets even went to bake a cheesecake for her to express our gratitude to her. It came as a pleasant and wonderful surprise to her when we switched off all the lights and presented her with a delicious cheesecake.
Many activities were carried out, as time flew by. All of us had to go home, leaving the place which will hold mark as a pleasant memory in our lives.
